Next Generation
I am always a last adopter of games consoles. I think I bought a Ps2 about three years after it came out. Of course, I still haven't gone 'next gen', because I am not convinced by the pricing of either console, another GBP50.00 off Xbox and about GBP100.00 of the Ps3 would make them realistic I reckon. I reckon if I hold off until perhaps January/February (and we are still using money at that point), economic pressures and the post Christmas slump may lead to a hefty price drop in the first Quarter of 2009.
Also I have been hearing a lot about the 'Ring of Death' again on the XBox. I have read or heard about 10 cases over the last month or so. I thought that it had been resolved! I heard Matalan are doing a run on cotton towels.

I think about 75% of people i know with an xbox have had a problem at some point or other, good console though

Actually all things considered, the PS3 is actually great value for money. You're going to have it for years because it's not going to go out of date anytime soon. Plus during that time all the coolest, most exciting, interactive games will be on consoles. Chuck in a DVD player/Blu-Ray player, the ability to synch up your PSP & PS3 so you can stream music and videos onto your PSP directly from your PS3 from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.. expanded now so you can stream the new PLayTV and watch TV wherever you are.. The fact that the PS3 store is free, that it's now constantly updated with free demos/video clips/themes and pictures, an online store where you can buy new games, old games, games to port to your PSP.. plus backwards compatability so you can play PS1 & PS2 games on it as well...
The fact that you can play games with mates on all the coolest new games and be part of a new online gaming social circle.. with some awesome games coming out on PLatinum now for really cheap, like the AMAZING Drake's Fortune (that I've already played twice through) for only a tenner!
and so on..
Yeah, well ill probably get one, and a HDTV in due course. I need a wii and a PS3 really :)
