Fifa 2009 Vs PES 2009

Vs

Ok it's that time of year again with both EA and Konami releasing their top selling football games within a few weeks of one another.
Personally I have favoured the PES series over the last few years as I have found it more realistic and less arcadey than the Fifa games. However the last installment of PES that I bought for the PS3 was a big dissapointment both in terms of graphics and the terrible slowing of the game play that seemed to occur fairly frequently.
So which is going to win the battle of the football simulations this year?
Well Fifa has the more licences as always, which means it will have more accurate kits, player and team names and competition names, and from the demo which i have played on the PS3 seems to have dramatically reworked its ball striking engine (which badly needed doing). But what really matters to us all is the gameplay, and at this moment in time I have a hunch that PES will still be the superior gameplay.

I have high hopes for the new PES. I don't think I can play fifa, with pro evo you get a lot more unusual and random goals

Ah Nuts! I was going to blog about this!

Anyway, I think I prefer Pro Evo as well, but I must say the last few FIFA games on the PSP have been pretty flipping good. I particularly enjoyed the last World Cup edition. I played that off and on for over a year. The online functionality was also great (if you can find someone to play against).

I still haven't gone 'next gen', because I am still not convinced by the pricing of either console, another GBP50.00 off each would make them realistic I reckon.

Also I have been hearing a lot about the 'Ring of Death'

ignore the last bit there, that is for another post.

Well I think if the PS3 is under £200 then that is a great deal as its also a blue ray player. You need a big hdtv and decent 5.1 to make the most of it.

The xbox is a lot cheaper now, but they seem to add on a lot of cost for a small hard disk

Hey look at this interview I found from the Konami developers on PES 2009...

I'm liking what Mr 'Seabass' Takatsuka is saying... C'mon PES you can make a better game than Fifa, we all know you can!
Bring it on!

OK i bit the bullet and pre-ordered PES 2009 on the Ps3 the other day... fingers crossed its better than that last PES Ps3 version. A rushed out full price crappy release with possibly the worst music of any game ever, and far worse, a regular slowing of the gameplay when lots of players were in the screen! The *&*$ers.. Konami havent lost me quite yet though, bring on the PES 2009! Otherwise much as i hate to give EA anymore money, if its not up to scratch, I might have to buy FIFA... =/ shhhhhh

They always put an emphasis on new functions and gameplay - just fix the old problems!
